HR development vital

The development of physical assets and human resources is necessary to crate a better society, said Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka at a function held in the Jaffna University on June 21. The Minister handed over academic texts worth over Rs 3,000,000 to the Jaffna university.

Addressing the gathering the Minister said the country is heading towards development after a decade of terrorism and racism. To expedite this development human resource is highly important and should be given priority.

The Minister further said the Jaffna District which had been under terrorist control for years is now free and independent and the Government intends to transform Jaffna into one of the most developed districts. He emphasized that as a country it is essential to work on a common agenda shedding petty religious differences and racism.

The function held under the patronage of Ven Dr. Omalpe Sobitha and Maharagama Mahinda Theras were attended by Minister Douglas Devananda Murugesu Chandrakumar Jaffna Mayor Yogeshwari Patkunarajah, Jaffna University Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Sanmugalingam and several others.
