Student fined for flagging off train

A technical college student who signalled the Rambukkana bound train at Ragama Railway station before the guard waved the green flag was sentenced to a three months imprisonment suspended for five years and a fine of Rs. 3,000 imposed by Gampaha Additional Magistrate Indika Attanayake.

This student who was on board the train had waved the engine driver to start the engine using a piece of green cloth from the Hunupitiya station once the train stopped at the station.

He was nabbed by the Railway Protection Force officials at the Ragama Station while he was signalling the train.

The Railway guard has informed this incident to the Controller who in turn instructed the Railway Protection Force officials in Ragama to look into the matter. His colleagues who was aiding and abetting in the mischievous act at the Hunupitiya station was not with him when he signalled the train at the Ragama station where he was arrested. CP
