Limiting Executive Presidency to two terms undemocratic - MP Cader

Limiting the Executive Presidency only to two terms of office was undemocratic, Kandy District UNP Parliamentarian Abdul Cader said.

A group of people were campaigning against the term of office of the Executive President being extended to more than two terms but if it was done even former President Chandrika Kumaratunga would be able to contest a Presidential Election again.

He said he was opposed to the Executive Presidency being limited to two terms in our country as we have a democratic system in our country. Even Matara District Member of Parliament Mangala Samaraweera had once said the Executive Presidency should not be limited to two terms.
