The Alliance Française de Colombo, the leading French teaching
institute in Sri Lanka for the last 55 years celebrated once again for
the 25th year in succession Fête de la Musique at its Barnes Place
headquarters last Saturday.
This annual festival inaugurated in France for the man on the street
was a grand success with amateurs and professionals contributing their
mite. Fête de la Music is essentially an opportunity for the ordinary
folk to enjoy themselves by performing without inhibitions before an
audience.
And this they did in the true spirit of the event from 10. a.m. to
6.00 p.m. to a hall packed to capacity. It doesn`t matter whether one
can sing, play a musical instrument, mime or mimic, juggle or dance
Hip-hop or Rap just do your thing. It’s really an occasion and an
opportunity to show off their talents spontaneously and it is a festival
where everyone is given an chance to perform. It is their festival where
they perform very similar to the event in France. |
