New OPD at Puttalam Hospital

Health sector in Sri Lanka was reckoned to be on a fabulous grade
internationally, and the doctors, medical specialists, consultants as
well as the Nursing Staff worked tirelessly day in day out with
dedication and commitment to ameliorate the anguish and distress of
patients, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
The Minister who ceremonially opened a state-of-the-art OPD (Out
Patient's department) at the Chilaw General hospital together with a
Primary healthcare Unit, clinics, an ICU and a dispensary with the
funding assistance of over Rs 226 million from the Japanese Red Cross
and ably coordinated by the Sri Lanka Red Cross, was speaking at a
meeting held at the newly opened OPD hall at the General Hospital,
Chilaw Tuesday.
Medical Superintendent Chilaw General Hospital Dr.Tilak Ranasinghe
received the Health Minister at the entrance to the building. Also
associated with the opening were the Wayamba Health Minister Asoka
Wadigamangawa, Wayamba Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe.
Puttalam District MP B.Anthony Victor Perera, Wayamba Provincial
Director of Health Services Dr.R.M.S.K. Rantnayake, Sri Lanka Red Cross
Society President Jagath Abeysinghe, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society
Puttalam Branch Chairman Charles Corea and others, were also present.
"I am ready to discuss any health problem right from the top: the
medical consultants right down to minor employees. I also welcome
suggestions and ideas mooted by them and am ready to discuss with them.
Further, I value such viable proposals for the improvement of the
health sector," the Minister said. |
