Tsunami 'fleeing' costs couple valuables

Goods valued at Rs 60,000 belonging to a foreign couple were stolen from their hotel room, when they fled hearing the tsunami alert early Sunday.

The couple on return to their room at a tourist hotel in Dikwella, found the room door broken and belongings stolen. Meanwhile, Rs 16,000 and four hand phones were stolen from a house in Dikwella when the occupants left their home after the tsunami warning.

Dikwella Police are investigating.
