Bolivia, South Africa to tighten ties
Talks on trade and diplomatic relations :
Bolivia: Bolivian President Evo Morales’ visit to South Africa for
the World Cup opening ceremony paavd the way to consolidate bilateral
ties, media sources highlighted Sunday. According to Cambio daily,
Morales met in Johannesburg African Vice-President Kgalema Motlanthe
Saturday , who asked to strengthen trade and diplomatic ties between two
countries .
Morales promised African Foreign Affairs Minister David Choquehuanca
to boost the rapprochement process hortly, the newspaper stated.
Motlanthe expressed his support to Bolivia and its more recent
constitutional reforms.
Motlanthe visited La Paz in 2009 leading a government delegation and
was interested in the necessary diplomatic and cooperative ties.
Morales also met with 74-year-old Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu,
one of the emblematic figures of the struggle against racial
discrimination, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.
