Scenes from the recently concluded war will be re staged with the
coordination of all three Forces, the Civil Defence Department and the
Police at the National Victory Day Celebrations at the Galle Face Green,
Friday, Army Media Spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe said.
Addressing a media conference at the Media Center for National
Security (MCNS) yesterday, he said soldiers who participated in the past
operations in the battlefield will participate in this event re staging
the past experiences of war.
“The Military Parade will include soldiers from all the units who
contributed to the war. The public can also participate in the ceremony.
A greater number of participants will be given the chance. We will
also use LCD screens to facilitate viewers,” he said.
Addressing the media, MCNS Director General Lakshman Hulugalle said,
the ceremony is organized in a special manner this time to be more
attractive than earlier.
“It is due to the tremendous dedication and effort of all soldiers,
security personnel and their family members that we achieved this
victory. It is an unforgettable land mark we reached after 30 years and
its first celebration must be made special,” he said.
The Ranaviru Seva Authority has organized The War Heroes
Commemoration National Ceremony on the same day at the War Heroes
Cenotaph at 4.00pm with the participation of the President. The
Government requested the guests and invitees to attend these ceremonies
with the invitations already issued. It also requested all people to
observe one minutes silence. |
