CABINET Decision
Sri Lanka Savings Bank-2008
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa as Finance and Planning Minister to table in
Parliament, the Annual Report and accounts showing details of the
performance and accounts of SriLanka Savings Bank for year ended on
December 31, 2008.
In relation to the Pre-tax profit of Rs 18.8 million earned during
2007, the bank has earned Rs.149.8 million during 2008.
Widows and Orphans Pension
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Public
Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne to revise
the Widows and Orphans Pension Act No: 01 of 1898 and to revising the
Widowers and Orphans Pension Act No 24 of 1983.
Annual Report-2009
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa as Finance and Planning Minister to submit the Annual
Report 2009 to Parliament.
Constitution Amendment
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Prime Minister
D.M Jayaratne to amend the important clauses of the 1978 Constitution of
the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (the Second Republican of
Sri Lanka). Permission was sought to make "minor" changes to the
following sections of the Constitution: VII (A); XI and XVIII (A).
Section VII (A) deals with the President of the Republic, his or her
election and term of office. Section XI deals with the procedures and
powers of Parliament and Section XVIII
(A) deals with the setting up of Provincial Councils.
Supply of 2000MT of Maize for Thriposha Program
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Health Minister
Maithripala Sirisena to supply a stock of 2000MTs of Maize from the
present suppliers.
Indian Immigrant Labour Ordinance
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Labour
Relations and Productivity Promotion Minister Gamini Lokuge to amend the
Indian Immigrant Labour Ordinance, No.1 of 1923 and to refer the
proposed amendments to the Legal Draftsman for drafting the bill with
consequential amendments.
Water Supply Scheme
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Water Supply
and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to Revised Total Cost Estimate
of the scheme which amounts to a Rs.165.8 million including 12 percent
VAT.
Civil Procedure Code
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Justice
Minister Athauda Seneviratne to publish the Civil Procedure Code
(Amendment) Bill in the Gazette and to present in Parliament.
The Civil Procedure Code (Amendment) Act, No. 14 of 1993 introduced a
new chapter XXXVIII on testamentary action to obviate the delays
hitherto experience in such actions.
Godakawela Water Supply Scheme
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Water Supply
and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena for the revised Total Cost
Estimate of the Scheme, which amounts to Rs. 288.8 million including 12
percent VAT.
MoU between India and Sri Lanka
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Child
Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadde to enter to
sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Government to
construct the proposed women trade centre and community education centre
is appropriate and to establish the Women's Trade Facilitation Centre
and Community Learning Centre in Batticaloa district.
Upgrading offices of assistant Government Agent
Cabinet granted approval to a memorandum submitted by Public
Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne to upgrade
offices of assistant Government agent, up to the level of divisional
secretariats. |
