Eleven year girl employed as domestic aid

The Chilaw Police found an 11-year-old girl who had been employed as
a domestic aid in a luxurious house.
The Child and Women's Bureau of the Chilaw Police raided the house on
a tip off given by a resident of the area.
When the Child Protection and Probation officers along with the
Police raided the house the girl was feeding an infant. Police searched
the house on a Court order to arrest the girl's employer.
The girl had worked three months without any payments. She is the
eldest child of a three-member family in Nuwara Eliya. She had never
gone to a school and had expressed her willingness to attend a school
like other students. |
