Display Price lists
Minister
Johnston Fernando |
Co-operative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando instructed
the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to ensure a price list of goods
sold in trade outlets being displayed. The traders fail to do so will be
prosecuted.
Except in the instance, where the price of the particular item has
been marked on the item itself a price list comprising the maximum
retail price or the stock price should be displayed in trade stalls in
terms of section 26 of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act No. 09 of
2003.
The Minister has observed that majority of traders do not display
price lists on surveys conducted islandwide by the Consumer Affairs
Authority recently.
The Minister also instructed Consumer Affairs Authority Chairman Rumy
Marshuk to make the displaying of price lists compulsory and to take
legal action against the defaulters. |
