Pushpadana trounce Girls High 7-0

Pushpadana Girls College Kandy, trounced Girls High School Kandy 7-0 in their Kandy District Schools Girls Under-19 Hockey tournament match organised by the Kandy District Schools Hockey Association and played at the University Grounds, Peradeniya.

At half time Pushpadana girls led 3-0. It was a superb exhibition of hockey of high order by Pushpadana Girls who punched holes in their opponents defence to run up the biggest win in the tournament against a good side.

Pushpadana girls also put more through into their play to upset their opponents.

With this win Pushpadana Girls College have virtually assured themselves of the championship title having won all their matches so far. Leading the goal spree for the winners was centre forward Charika Ekanayake who put up a brilliant display with the stick to slam four goals while left inside Ishara Sandamali seconded the boards twice and the seventh goal came off the stick of left extreme Ahimsa Nirmani.
