Issues relating to human resources in Sri Lanka and India are very
similar to each other, former National Institute of Personnel Management
(NIPM) Kolkata President and West Bengal Legislative Assembly,
Opposition Leader Partha Chatterjee told the Daily News Business.
Interacting with HR professionals of the two countries will give them
a better exposure benefiting both parties, he said.
Connection between professionals in both countries has helped them to
have a better understanding of HR related issues and in the future it
will be more useful since the relationship between the two countries is
getting more closer now.
It is prominent that more visitors, students, investors and officials
are visiting both countries mutually more than ever before and it is
ideal if exchange programs for HR professionals can be continued.
He said countries need to analyze the tradition of manufacturing and
knowledge eras, because new economic policies move with new technology.
Today countries have more knowledgeable and capable people and they
can be made competitive by giving a good exposure. Finance is not a
barrier if they have the knowledge and language," Chatterjee said.
Asked whether it is an advantage to be a politician with a HR
background he said that it helps him to be in a better position. "The
background is more important than the book knowledge," he said.
