Sri Lanka and Vietnam established the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Business
Council to facilitate trade among the two countries

Vietnam Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Dr. Le Duong Quang said
the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Business Council will promote economic and trade
ties while bringing good results for the benefit of two countries.
He launched the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Business Council at the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce yesterday. He said this will also create more
business opportunities while bringing prosperity to both countries.
Promoting tourism, trade in goods, tourism and other services between
the two countries will be one of their main priorities.
Among the other objectives of business council are to exchange
information on trade and investment with the suitable authorities and
institutions in Vietnam, encourage tourist investment from Vietnam to
Sri Lanka and encourage the establishment of joint enterprises in Sri
Lanka with investors from Vietnam.
It is reported that Vietnam exports to Sri Lanka have increased
significantly during the last couple of months.
Vietnam is considered as a main purchasing power in the region. Sri
Lanka mainly exports gems, textiles, rubber, tea and other products to
Vietnam.
