Temporary bridges at Rattanapitiya open today

Two temporary steel bridges constructed over the Katuela at Rattanapitiya will be opened today to facilitate the road users on the Colombo-Horana road.

The construction work of the two temporary steel bridges over the Katuela at Rattanapitiya was accelerated to avoid inconvenience faced by the public due to the closing down of the road stretch from Boralesganuwa junction to Pepiliyana junction on the Colombo-Horana road for the past few days.

The people who use the Colombo-Horana road face greater difficulties when they travel across the stretch from Boralesgamuwa junction to Pepiliyana junction due to heavy traffic congestion caused by floods and heavy rains.

Therefore, we decided to immediately construct these bridges provided under the steel bridge project by the UK government. The length of a bridge is 15 metres while the width is 4.2 metres.

The bridges were constructed by the Road Development Authority the Spokesman said.
