Amadahara Vesak Zone from tomorrow

The Amadahara Sadaham Vesak Zone will open to the public from tomorrow at 6.00 p.m opposite Lake House premises. Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella will be the chief guest.

The second day of the ceremony will start under the patronage of Cultural and National Heritage Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi.

The third day programs will open under the patronage of the Mass Media and Information Ministry, Secretary, W. B. Ganegala.

Amadahara Sadaham Vesak Zone is being held to mark the 2554th Vesak Poya day marking the passing away of The Buddha. It will be held on a grand scale from May 27, 28 and 29.

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited has organized a Vesak lantern competition for the 20th year and Rs 750,000 will be given as prizes for the winners.

Vesak lanterns, Bhakthi Gee recitals, puppet shows, depicting Jathaka stories by Ambalangoda puppetry groups and stalls offering free meals to devotees (Dansal) will also be held.

Sponsor of the Amadahara Sadaham Vesak Zone is Sri Lanka Telecom. Electronic media sponsors are Independent Television Network and the Lakhanda.
