SLT conducts netball tournament in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Netball Association, in collaboration with
the Jaffna District Netball Association held a friendly netball
tournament "Uthuru Mithuru Pipena Kekulu" at Jaffna Central College
Grounds recently, in order to develop ties with the people of Jaffna.
Jaffna Additional Government Agent Rubini Vardalingam was the chief
guest at the event, which was attended by several other SLT officials,
Jaffna District Netball Association President and Members and Sports
Ministry Assistant Director Padma Baddewela.
Two teams from SLT and seven schools from the Jaffna District
participated in this tournament including Kokuvil Hindu College -
Kokuvil, Sandilipai Hindu College - Sandilipai, Ramanathan College -
Chunnakam, Sri Somaskantha College - Puttur, Union College - Thellipalai,
Methodist Girls' High School - Point Pedro and Vada Hindu Ladies College
- Point Pedro. Union College were the overall winners of the tournament,
while Ramanathan College became the first runners-up.and Sandilipai
Hindu College the second runners-up.
Especially with the opening up of the North and the East, SLT has
extended its fullest support to the Sri Lanka Government to upgrade and
expand its communication network to these areas, in order to cater to
the needs of these customers. This netball tournament is yet another
such endeavour to further the relationship with the people of the area.

Russels opens reception hall
Well-known tea company Russels Tea has recently invested Rs.10
million to refurbish its reception hall in Borella to cater for a new
market.
Company Managing Director Russel Perera who had been in the tea
service and catering service for 22 years said that the new concept is
to provide their service for the poor creating a new market with five
star menu at an affordable price.
This service will be provided only to low income people in the area
and the employees of the company.
The unique feature of this Reception Hall is the lowest budget
package for wedding couples.
The wedding package includes buffet lunch/ dinner with DJ Music,
fully equipped complimentary room for the wedded couple and the
following day Breakfast and Lunch and a vehicle for the wedding couple,
for a vicinity of three kilometers.
The first wedding was held at Russel Reception hall on May 19 which
we catered for 200 guests, to felicitate this occasion the Chairman
Russel Perera gifted to the couple a set of Russel Cup and Saucer
engraved the date of the wedding to remember the first wedding.
SLIIT ties up with Southeast Missouri State University
The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) has
achieved recognition for educational excellence which spans over a

Dean Dr. Randall Shaw who signed the MoU with Professor Lalith Gamage,
said that these accreditations include ABET-Accreditation Board of
Engineering Technology, AACSB International - The association to Advance
Collegiate School of Business and NAIT-National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education, among others.
Progressive Academy (Pvt) Ltd Managing Director Janaka Herath, who
facilitated this tie up between the two universities said the
Progressive Academy has achieved significant success to negotiate for
guaranteed scholarships for SLIIT students who have a G.P.A. of 2.5 or
above. This collaboration and scholarships will give SLIIT students the
opportunity to obtain a US degree at a very affordable cost.
Bata opens factory sales outlet
A Bata Factory Sales Outlet was inaugurated at Bata Shoe Company
premises on General Sir John Kotalawala Road (Airport Road), Ratmalana
recently, by Bata Shoe Company Managing Director Cesar Panduro and Air

on Facebook are only one click away from 0.facebook.com. To view a photo
a person only needs to click on a link to the photo and they will be
prompted that they are leaving 0.facebook.com. Standard data charges

Commercial Bank opens in Mannar
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has opened a branch in Mannar, in a
spacious building with ample parking facilities at No, 25, Main Street,
Mannar.
The new branch, the bank's 176th in Sri Lanka, is linked to all other
