Rise in tea production upto April
There was a significant growth in the total tea production from
January to April 2010.

During the period January to April 2010 ,total tea production
amounted to 102,329,444kg as against 80,498,267 kg produced during the
corresponding period of 2009.
This clearly indicates a growth of 21,831,177 kg or 27.1
percent.However April Tea production saw a decline when compared with
the corresponding period of last year.
According to a press release issued by Sri Lanka Tea Board shows that
tea production during the last month amounted to 28,415,330 kg and
during the corresponding month in 2009, tea production rose to
30,718,817 kg. Accordingly, tea production indicates a decrease of
2,303,487 kg or 7.5 percent.
Total tea production (Othodox, CTC, Green) amounted to 28,415,330 kg
in April 2010. It was 30,718,817 kg in April 2009. IH
