Shortcomings abound in Matale district hospital

Matale district hospital which used to have a few dilapidated buildings now possess a two-storied spacious building complex, including a complex for an operating theatre.

This was all due to the efforts of the former Central Council Minister Champika Wijeratne said, Secretary to the Matale Media Association Priyantha Samarasena. He said after his departure from the post of Health Minister work started by him came to a standstill, having only the spacious building complex sans surgical equipment to serve the public.

Hospital Director Dr. W. K. W. S. Kumarasinghe said he has submitted a list of requirements to the authorities, but so far no action has been taken.

Matale Hospital Development Committee Secretary S. B. Abagaspitiya said a committee is to make representations to the Provincial Chief Minister to take action on this matter.
