Sri Lankan Youth spikers in last eight

Sri Lanka Youth Volleyballers competing at the Asian Youth Volleyball Championships in Tehran, Iran came up with flying colours when they outplayed strong Australians 3-1, (26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24). This win also paved the way for the Lankan Youth to reach the last eight.

The Lankans lost the first set after a strong fight and later came up with a brilliant performance to win the following three sets in a row to perform this great victory.

This win also proves the improvement the Lankan youth have gained in this sport.

This tournament is also the qualifying round to select teams for the forthcoming first ever Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore in August.

The Lankan Youth are now grouped with Kazakhstan, Thailand and Chinese Taipei. The Lankans were due to meet Kazakhstan yesterday.
