Sri Lankan Youth spikers in last eight
Sri Lanka Youth Volleyballers competing at the Asian Youth Volleyball
Championships in Tehran, Iran came up with flying colours when they
outplayed strong Australians 3-1, (26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24). This win
also paved the way for the Lankan Youth to reach the last eight.
The Lankans lost the first set after a strong fight and later came up
with a brilliant performance to win the following three sets in a row to
perform this great victory.
This win also proves the improvement the Lankan youth have gained in
this sport.
This tournament is also the qualifying round to select teams for the
forthcoming first ever Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore in
August.
The Lankan Youth are now grouped with Kazakhstan, Thailand and
Chinese Taipei. The Lankans were due to meet Kazakhstan yesterday.
