Maiden music album from Neville



Neville Weerasekara

Talented singer Neville Weerasekara who has been in the music scene for nearly 14 years will launch his maiden music album titled Kadulu Salana Mal Kekulu at the Kalutara Town Hall on May 22 at 5.00 pm.

It is not just a CD launching, but it is a live show with Neville’s popular songs on various themes which will be inspired by dances on many styles to coincide with the CD launch. The CD comprises 14 popular songs on themes such as love, childhood, women workers in free trade zone, rural beauty and baila.

The concert will be performed by an orchestra including Mahinda Bandara, Suresh Maliyadda, Milton Peries, Tissasiri Perera, Mahesh Kumar Silva, Vajira Fernando, Vajira Gomas, Niresh Perera, Priyakumudu Medawatta and Nihal Kalubovila.

Nevil commenced his music carrier by joining to the Blossoms band in Kalutara in 1987. He became a very popular vocalist within very short period by playing solos on the demands of the fans. He had also performed in the Rush and Black and White bands later.

Following many request from music lovers, he created a three-piece band called ‘U Turn’ which is very much in demand among get-togethers in public and private companies, weddings, private functions, ceremonies in hotels and festivals.

A past student of Holly Cross College in Kalutara and Kalutara Maha Vidyalaya Colombo, Neville since his childhood involved with music following his father who had a best talent in singing songs. His father has always encouraged him and ultimately he became a popular vocalist showing his talents in concerts in school, new year festivals and functions in the village.“I am working on releasing a new CD and music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy singing with dance performed by the Sankajalee group in Kalutara at the concert,” he said.

I have composed all these fourteen songs for the CD. The tracking and mixing have been done at the Mahee Studio while Sandaruwan Kodippili and Vajira D Ratnayake have conducted the music.
