Seethadevi, St. Anthony’s declared joint champions

Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy and St. Anthony’s Girls College, Kandy, battled out to a thrilling scoreless draw to emerge joint champions at the girls under 13 hockey tournament organized by the Kandy District Schools Hockey Association and played at the University grounds, Peradeniya during the week.

A.B. Godigamuwa and S.J. Ranatunga umpired.

In the first semi final Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya beat Pushpadana Girls College 2 - 0 after leading 1 - 0 at the breather. Bhagya Ratnayake and P.S. Thamali scored for the winners.

In the second semi final St. Anthony’s Girls College edged out Girls High School 1 - 0 after a blank first half.

The scores stood deadlock at nil all at the end of regulation time and when the penalty tie breaker systems was implemented, Seetha Devi stickers emerged winners.
