BOI signs eight new agreements
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka granted investment approval for
eight ventures to commence operations under the BOI. Chairman / Director
General Dhammika Perera signed the agreements on behalf of the BOI and
presented the BOI Certificates of Registration to the investors. The new
ventures will invest US $ 48 million and will create 900 employment
opportunities.

Haleys Business Solutions International signed the agreement for a
venture to provide IT enabled services to the local market. The venture
located at Colombo is an investment of over US $ 800,000 providing
employment for a workforce of 170.
An investment agreement for a venture to establish agro processing
beverages for the local market was signed with Varun Beverages Lanka.
The venture representing an investment of US $ 25 million is sponsored
by Indian investor, North East Pure Drinks Limited. The manufacturing
plant established in Embulgama, Ranala will create new employment
opportunities for 420.
Tiesh By Lakmini signed the agreement for an investment project to
manufacture hand made jewellery for the export market. The venture
located in Colombo is an investment of over US $ 1.4 million.
Larsen, A and CE Lanka signed an investment agreement to set up a
Business Process Outsourcing Centre in Madinnagoda. The project
representing an investment of over US $ 2 million is a joint venture
between investors from Denmark and Sri Lanka. The company would be
providing outsourced specialized architectural designing services. 50
new employment opportunities will be created with the establishment of
the BPO centre.
An investment agreement for over US $ 12 million was signed with
Auston Institute of Manage.ment. The investment sponsored by Singapore
based Auston Institute of Management will establish a training
institute. 50 New employment opportunities will be created with the
establishment of the training center.
S.S.C.K. Textile Exporters signed the agreement for an investment
project to export waste fabric, dusters and wipers. The venture
established in Wattala is an investment of US $ 500,000.
An investment agreement for US $ 1 million was signed with Nuwa Ice
Plant. The company will establish an ice manufacturing and fish
processing plant in Dondra. With the establishment of the plant 50 new
employment opportunities will be created.
Hotel River Park signed the agreement to establish a Tourist Hotel at
Matale. The hotel is an investment of over US $ 5.7 million. The project
is carried out under Nipayum Sri Lanka 300 Enterprise Programme. |
