New MPs inspect Colombo Port

Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa and several newly elected
Members of the new Parliament made an inspection visit to the Colombo
Port last Friday.
The visit also became the first occasion a group of MPs visited the
port for an inspection tour. Deputy Port and Aviation Ministers
Dayashritha Tissera and Rohitha Abegunawardena also participated at the
occasion. The MPs paid special attention at the on-going constructions
at the Colombo Port Expansion Project (CPEP) launched by Sri Lanka Ports
Authority (SLPA) at a cost of 425 million US Dollars.
SLPA Chairman Dr Priyath B. Wickrama made clarifications of the
on-going constructions at the CPEP.
The members also paid a visit at the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT)
and the JCT Control Room as well as several other important premises at
SLPA.
MPs Dilum Amunugama, Tharanath Basnayake, Thenuka Vidanagamage,
Asanga Semasinghe, Port and Aviation Ministry Secretary K.C.P. Ranjith
de Silva, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe, SLPA Working
Director Prasanna Kalutarage were present. |
