Police expected to press Kandy
S. M. Jiffrey ABDEEN - Kandy Sports corr.
The defending Caltex League champions will not find it easy when they
take on Police Sports Club in their Caltex Rugby League match to be
played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium tomorrow at 4.30 p.m.
Kandy Sports Club scored a 44-0 win over Havelocks Sports Club last
week without their skipper and play maker stand off Fazil Marija, centre
Gayan Weeeraratne and full back Radhika Hettiarachchi due to injuries.
Of the trio only Gayan Weeraratne is likely to return if he recovers
sufficiently.
Last week's match saw No. 8 Sean Wijesinghe giving a very impressive
display and he was very sound in both attack and defence. New hooker
Achala Perera too played well in his first game for the Kandy Club.
Police Sports Club led by Champika Thushara put up a gutty
performance against CR and FC last week before losing. They are expected
to put up another good performance against the champions using their
fitness as their forte.
