Blind cricket tourney enters final stages
Ranaviru Sevana and School for the Blind, Moneragala (Subhagya SC)
entered the finals of the Dilmah Challenge Trophy tournament winning
their semi-final matches with ease.
Ranaviru Sevana trounced Raja Rata Disabled Youth SC by a massive 248
runs in their semi-final match played at the Prison Grounds,
Anuradhapura.
Ranaviru Sevana amassed 351 runs for 8 wickets in their 40 overs with
skipper Ruwan Karunatilake 86 (with 6 boundaries), Samantha Kumara 71
(with 7 boundaries and Ekanayake 32 (5 boundaries) top scoring. Prasanna
2 for 34 and Pradeep 2 for 38 bowled best for A'pura.
Raja Rata were shot out for a meagre 103 runs in 27 overs. Only
Bandara (28 runs) impressed for Raja Rata. Karunatilake achieved a great
double sixth 3 wickets for 10 runs and Fernando bagged 3 wickets for 25
runs.
Desapriya's Huge Knock
School for the Blind Moneragala hammered 338 for 5 wickets with
Chandana Desapriya a sterling knock of 173 not out (12 boundaries);
Sunil, Suranga and Udhara chipped in with 29, 28 and 27 respectively.
Manamperi bagged 2 wickets.
They beat CEI Plastics 148 all out by 190 runs. R. Wasantha scored 42
for CEI. Madhuka bowled splendidly to take 4 wickets.
