Minister Wimal Weerawansa says:

Ensure Fonseka’s Parliamentary privileges

Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa requested Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa to take actions to ensure that DNA Colombo District MP General Sarath Fonseka is allowed to attend Parliament sittings without any obstructions and hindrances.

“The rights of MPs must be protected, whatever party they represented,” he said. Minister Weerawansa made these remarks when he had intervened during a privilege issue raised by DNA MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake that General Fonseka had been prevented from attending sittings yesterday by authorities holding him.

The Minister requested the Speaker to issue a standing order to allow Fonseka to attend sittings when the House is convened.
