India Visa application Centre in Jaffna

The people of Jaffna and neighbouring areas will not have to travel all the way to Colombo to submit their Indian visa applications, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ashok K. Kantha said in Jaffna yesterday.

The Indian High Commissioner inaugurated an India Visa Application Centre (IVAC) of the Indian High Commission in Jaffna yesterday.

This will be operated by the VFS Global who have been successfully running the India Visa Application Centre in Colombo since February 2008.

This initiative on the part of the Indian High Commission will facilitate the visa applicants to submit their visa applications in Jaffna and to take delivery of the passports from the India Visa Application Centre, Jaffna.

The High Commissioner said India was looking forward to opening a Consulate in Jaffna in the near future.

The India Visa Application Centre is well-located at No.89, Brown Road, Jaffna. The IVAC will function from 0800 hours to 1700 hours from Monday to Friday. Visa applicants can log on to www.vfs-in-lk.com for guidance about visa instructions.

They can send e-mails to [email protected] for visa queries. The IVAC helpline number is 011 4505588.
