Minister promises sweeping changes

Child Development and Women's Empowerment Ministry activities and services will not be limited only to publicity banners or posters, Minister Tissa Karaliyadda said.

All Ministry programs will be target-oriented and achieved. These are not just propaganda, he said.

The Minister addressing his staff said the Ministry is duty bound to do its level best for the sake of children and women. Minister Karaliyadda promised sweeping changes in his Ministry within the next six months. Certain institutions depend on propaganda after doing a little work and blow it up as a big issue.

The Child Development and Women's Empowerment Ministry will take steps to carry out public service efficiently and effectively.

"When the country was in the grip of LTTE terrorism for over three decades, a considerable number of children and women were affected. Therefore the Child Development and Women's Affairs Ministry is duty bound to look after them," Minister Karaliyadda noted.
