The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) decided to amend its
existing constitution to implement its activities with increased
efficacy in order to reach their established goals. The decision to
implement a constitutional revision was taken up by the SAFA Task Force
at its meeting held in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2009.
The SAFA Task Force entrusted with the responsibility of manipulating
the constitutional revision met in Colombo recently. The event was
hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka (ICASL) and
the identified key areas of constitutional amendment were the content of
discussion.
ICASL President Sujeewa Mudalige said that it is of great pride for
ICASL to coordinate an event of this significance since the impact of
the decisions reached at this meeting will have a great impact in the
way SAFA conducts its activities in the future. SAFA accountancy bodies
will have a significant say in the rapid economic development taking
place in their respective countries and hence there was need to
strengthen the relationships between the bodies and also to assist each
other in developing the profession, he said.
