Upcountry May Day celebrations

The major plantation May Day celebrations will be held at Talawakelle today, with a massive crowd participating organised by the Ceylon Workers' Congress, with its boss Arumugan Thondaman presiding over it.

The Estate workers will show their strength and solidarity to the Government and President Mahinda Rajapaksa, since the majority of them have voted for the United People's Freedom Alliance Government in the last General Election.

Several splinter plantation Trade Unions will hold their May Day celebrations at the estate levels.

The Communist Party's United Plantation Workers' Union will hold its May Day at Badulla presided over by Senior Attorney-at-Law and Union President A.P. Kanapathipillay.
