Coconut Cultivation Board gifts house for blind war hero

The Coconut Cultivation Board Employees Welfare Association constructed and donated a house to a disabled war hero.

The donation was made to K. H. Chaminda Kumara, 28, a war hero of Lenawa, Melsiripura, who went blind as a result of a landmine explosion in the battlefield.

This incident occurred in June 2008 at Madu area. The proposal to construct the house was put forward by Coconut Cultivation Board Lenawa Coconut Plantation Manager Ranjith Maralanda. The land had been donated by T. M. Karunarathne, a farmer of Lenawa village. He is also a father of two war heroes.

The key of the newly build house was handed over to Kumara and his wife by Coconut Cultivation Board Chairman Dr. Jayantha Gunathilaka.
