Increase in usage of CFL bulbs - CB

The wide usage of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) has affected the
national electrical demand of the country and it will ease the economic
burden of the people.
According to Central Bank sources the usage of CFL bulbs has been
increased to 51 percent from 26 percent in 2005.
The electrical power demand had been decreased by 300 mw during the
specified years, sources revealed.
There is a possibility of cutting power waste by 10-30 percent from
the power requirement of industrial sector through the proper management
and applying of necessary modifications, sources pointed out. Meanwhile,
the Government has envisaged to achieve a 100 percent target in
countrywide electrification by 2015.
The Power and Energy Ministry has planned to substitute non
traditional renewable energy by 10 percent to the national power demand
of the country.
