Dharma Sri Abeyratne
The assistance of the Ministry Secretaries is vital to achieve the
development goals of the country, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. The
President was addressing the newly appointed Ministry Secretaries at
Temple Trees at a ceremony held to handover their letters.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the Ministry Secretaries must
totally dedicate themselves to implement the Mahinda Chintana program
thereby fulfilling the people’s wishes.
The President further said that not only the Ministers but the
Ministry Secretary also has a vital role to play and his or her role is
equally important to that of the Minister. The secretaries have to help
take the country forward while fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
The people have reposed their trust in the Government and the
secretaries are duty bound to help make the hopes and aspirations of the
people a reality.
”During the past four years the Government was able to eradicate LTTE
terrorism from our Motherland while launching massive development
projects.
The country is now under one flag. Therefore, the people voted for
the present Government and this is the biggest ever victory achieved so
far by any Government,” the President noted.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Mahinda Chinthana was implemented in
2005 and Ministry Secretaries can learn from that experience when
implementing Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma to develop the country.
All development proposals are in the Mahinda Chintana. The
Secretaries do not need to hesitate at any moment when carrying out
their duties since the Government will always stand by them.
”You are responsible for the smooth functioning of the Ministry. The
Secretary has to be vigilant about all activities of the Ministry. When
going for the set objectives, Ministry Secretaries have an important
role to play. Priority has to be given to the under developed areas,”
the President noted. |
