Navy brings released Lankan fishermen safely home
Sri Lanka Navy brought twenty-four Sri Lankan fishermen safely home
after their release from Indian custody on April 23.
The fishermen and five fishing trawlers were handed over to SLN
officials by the Indian Coast Guard Ship “Ranijindan” at the Indo-Sri
Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the seas North of
Kankesanthurai. They were brought to the KKS Harbour and provided with
required assistance by Naval authorities.
The early release of these fishermen by Indian authorities comes as a
direct result of the speedy efforts taken by Government Fisheries
Ministry and Sri Lanka Navy.
The fishermen are from Devinuwara, Nilwella and Trincomalee.
Arrangements were made for them to return home and reunite with their
loved ones. |
