The Lak Sathosa network will be turned into a massive supermarket
chain in Sri Lanka with the opening of its 200th outlet this week.
Lak Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando told the Daily News that
consumers had expressed satisfaction over the Government's effort to
open more outlets and a large number of consumers have begun to
patronise Lak Sathosa outlets.
"Private traders and Lak Sathosa would have to compete with each
other which would ultimately lead to lower prices of essential goods
while increasing consumer purchasing power at these outlets," he said.
"We recorded the highest number of customers of nearly 125,000 per
day at the 199 outlets countrywide in the last four months," he said.
"With the aim of bringing down the high prices of essential goods and
providing relief to the people, the Lak Sathosa network has been
transformed into the biggest supermarket chain in Sri Lanka," he
said.Meanwhile, measures have been taken to set up 100 more Lak Sathosa
outlets in May and June to cater to growing public demand.
"We provide an efficient and high-quality customer service by
providing essential items at reasonable prices through 199 sales outlets
from Point Pedro to Dondra Head," he said.
Lak Sathosa outlets islandwide as a result recorded sales increase
from January to March this year. |
