NATO to spur European defence
Estonia: The NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen
called at an extraordinary Summit to improve Europe's defence and
eliminate US post-war stockpiles.
Rasmussen called nuclear power deterrent in an insecure world and
threatened Europe at the meeting of 28 North Atlantic Treaty
Organization Foreign Ministers in Tallin, Estonia.
The NATO leader urged to support a new anti-missile defence system
and called debate promoters - Germany, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and
Norway- to foster solidarity, share interests and achieve a safer world.
Rasmussen proposed setting up of a $20M "safety cap" running from
Vancouver to Vladivostok (Russia's far East) which covers North-to-South
Europe, further modern, efficient and credible cross-continental shields
for their power to brace defence from alleged ballistic attacks.
