Army Commander thanks soldiers
Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, addressing a
section of Officers, Non Commissioned Officers, other Ranks and civil
staff at the Army Headquarters extended his New Year wishes to all ranks
of the Sri Lanka Army and their families in connection with the Sinhala
and Hindu New year.

The Army Chief during his address Thursday morning (15), paid sincere
gratitude to Officers and Other Ranks who are away from their loved ones
during the festival season and those still under treatment for injuries
after fighting against the terrorists for the noble cause of
safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland.
He further extended his wishes to family members of the soldiers
serving in the North and East. Army Commander Lt. General Jagath
Jayasuriya told the gathering that Sri Lanka Army is held in high esteem
and respect by our Nation as contemporary heroes. “We receive laurels as
one of the best Armies in the world due to our gallantry and heroism”.
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya subsequent to his address
visited the Military Hospital to meet injured officers and soldiers in
action. President Seva Vanitha Army Branch, Manjulika Jayasuriya also
distributed gift parcels among the inmates. |
