More Government information through new website

The Government Information Centre service have been expanded to provide more information about Government institutions and their services. According to Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka sources, the people will be able to get information about 10 service areas of 100 Government institutions through the web-site www.gic.gov.lk. The public will also be provided with an opportunity to lodge complaints about the difficulties they face when obtaining services from government institutions.

ICTA sources said a person who does not have internet facilities could make use of the facility of a nearby Nenasala and lodge the complaint.

The Government institutions are obliged to provide responses for such complaints within three days under the project.

The website also furnishes information required by prospective investors to invest in development projects in the country, registration as well as other facilities.

People who are unable to contact the centre over telephone could obtain information through the website.
