Sri Lankan team secures tangible business at GIBTM

The Sri Lankan team led by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and SriLankan Airlines, made a strong representation and impact at the Gulf Incentive Business Travel and Meetings (GIBTM) held last week in Abu Dhabi.

The event had over 7,500 scheduled meetings which was 17 percent last year. Among the confirmed businesses that SLCB had secured were a conference from Poland, an Adventure Rally, a 1,000 pax religious group from Cambodia and a conference from India, while many contacts were established and positive responses were received to the offers made by the industry members.

"GIBTM is a very focused event for MICE industries particularly for Asia. Exhibitors have the opportunity to meet quality professionals and the hosted buyers with whom the Sri Lankan team made full use," SLCB Marketing Manager Kumudu Hennedige said.

Over 277 hosted buyers were present, the highest recorded in the GIBTM history.

SLCB and SriLankan Airlines have been promoting the Middle-Eastern markets for Meetings, Incentives and Conferences.
