At UN Human Rights Council:

Cuba condemns West

Switzerland: Cu- ban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted on Wednesday that his country has been a victim of US aggressions and terrorist actions, and that Washington’s policy remains the same.

Speaking at the high-level section of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), he emphasized the violations usually committed in the world that hinder the countries’ development.

He specially demanded that countries and individuals responsible for the human rights violations committed in Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Guantanamo and other centers for torture and assassinations should be held accountable for, and condemned the European countries that authorized secret flights and prisons.

Rodriguez also stated that what has happened in Palestine for years is a real genocide, and said the US-imposed military dictatorships for decades are responsible for thousands of deaths.

In the third day of HRC sessions, the Cuban FM explained that a new subversive escalation has been launched against his country, without the least respect nor ethics.

“They are trying to present mercenaries as patriots, US-paid agents on Cuban land as dissidents, and stateless criminals as prisoners of conscience,” he said.

Rodriguez decried that “the powerful imperial machinery does not hesitate to use a recidivist convict, sentenced in a due trial for common crimes and then recruited in prison to be presented as a human right fighter.” “To obtain illegitimate political profits, despite excellent medical care, he was by manipulation sentenced to death, a regretful fact,” as President Raul Castro said. It is another victim of the US subversive policy against Cuba,” the minister stressed. Geneva, Prensa Latina
