Fonseka arrest:

Ex-CJ's views baseless

The Sri Lankan Government did not violate any law when arresting General Sarath Fonseka. This has now being proved and endorsed by the Supreme Court ruling.

Therefore the views expressed by the former Chief Justice is entirely baseless, Export Development and International Trade Minister and the Cabinet Spokesman Prof. G. L. Peiris said.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the Government Information Department Auditorium yesterday Minister Peiris said that the Government has not violated any International or local law.

"The Army Act is included in the Sri Lankan law and it is a part of our law. All the countries in the world have similar laws within their law in order to maintain discipline in the armed forces," he said.
