To accelerate development:
Bills before House from April to Nov

The Government has taken a decision to present all required Bills in
Parliament and obtain approval between April 22 and November 18 to
prepare the background for speedy economic development, Export
Development and International Trade Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Prof.
G. L. Peiris said.
According to Minister Peiris, the Government has now received an
opportunity to develop the country's economy and this is an opportunity
which the country did not have for the past 20 years. At the moment the
foreign reserves of Sri Lanka has reached around US$ 5.3 billion and the
country is capable of importing food required for seven months. The per
capita income of Sri Lanka has gone up to US$ 2300 only during past five
years and it took 11 years to increase it up to US$ 1,000. |
