Poster costs astronomical

With mass scale poster campaigns in full swing, it is ironic to note that their fundings amount to just a little less than a parliamentarian's earnings for a single term in the House. The average charge of printing a poster is (Rs. 22), with an additional distribution cost of six rupees incurred.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Minister of Environment and Natural resources, Patali Champika Ranawaka said with approximately one hundred thousand posters printed for one candidate, the aggregate cost of a candidate's poster campaign sums up to three million rupees. A cut out costs up to around Rupees twenty thousand, with some candidates having been reported of having up to three thousand cut-outs promoting themselves.
