Tusk selling trio in Police net

Three persons who tried to sell a pair of tusks were arrested on suspicion by the Puttalam Police during a raid in Puttalam town on Monday night along with the tusks.

Investigations revealed that one of the suspects had killed a wild elephant in the Wilpattu jungle two and a half years ago and removed its two tusks to earn a fast buck and the other two suspects had been assisting him to arrange a sale for Rs. 500,000 to a person in Puttalam. The suspects are residents of Puliyankulama, Nikaweratiya and Madampe. Police investigations are continuing.
