Probe into stealing of exam papers

A full scale investigation will be held by the Examinations Department into the leak of the final year examination papers of the Colleges of Education, Education Ministry Secretary Nimal Bandara told the Daily News yesterday.

A certain group of students of Mahaweli College of Education in Polgolla and Uva College of Education in Bandarawela, Bindunuwewa have stolen examination papers while these were kept in store rooms. Due to this situation the final year examination which was scheduled to be held on Monday was postponed by the Examinations Department. According to the Examinations Department sources around 3,000 students were to sit the examination.

Following the police investigations 33 students in Uva and Mahaweli Colleges of Education have been taken into custody in connection with this incident.
