Corporates can learn from Army strategy

Sri Lanka can win the economic battle and gain prosperity by
following the strategy used by the Army using small teams to win the
battle against terrorists.

companies are fighting a battle everyday in an extremely competitive and
aggressive environment for victory.
Through this program a strategy of the Sri Lanka Army in leveraging
leadership behaviours of an eight man team is applied for the success of
the corporate sector.
Speaking at a seminar on ‘Front line Leadership for the corporate
sector he said even in the face of uncertainty, taking responsibility to
create an enabling environment to achieve a shared purpose is leadership
according to this strategy.
“The performance of the front line staff is vital to fulfil ever
changing and increasing client needs while striving to deliver results
with minimum resources and reduce inefficiencies,” he said.
There are number of advantages of deploying small units in the
corporate sector. It will maximize resource allocation ,reduce manpower
and cost as well.
It is easy to penetrate into other markets securing information when
there is a small number in a group.
A higher ratio of success is definite to achieve by employing small
numbers for a task.
He said it is necessary to empower these groups with a set of skills,
equipment motivation and training in order to achieve excellence in the
corporate sector.
A large number of participants from multi-national companies attended
this seminar where military theories were applied into practical
situations in the corporate sector as applicable to them.
