Egypt, Iraq talk bilateral relations
Egypt: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak discussed with Iraqi Vice-
President Tareq Al-Hashemi the status of their relations and the
pre-elections situation in Iraq marked by violence.
Al-Hashemi who visited Cairo Tuesday, analyzed with Mubarak at the
Presidential palace the ways to strengthen common links after signing 25
protocols of economy and investment cooperation.
Al-Hashemi showed his Government’s gratitude to Mubarak and Prime
Minister Ahmed Nazif for reopening of an Egyptian embassy in Bagdad
after the kidnapping and assassination of Egyptian Ambassador in 2005.
The escalation of violence in Iraq related to elections on March 7 was
another topic they discussed.
Abdulrahman Hanthal, Commander of Talafar in Ninive province, warned
about possible suicides during elections.Hanthal assured they will
reinforce surveillance in polling stations after receiving information
about alleged terrorist acts by Talalfar groups.
According to Iraqi Governmental sources, army soldiers of brigade 32
frustrated an attempt of blowing Al-Suwaiyra Bridge over Tigris River in
