Drug smugglers en route to Lanka nabbed at Thai airport
Two international drug traffickers trying to smuggle 1,632 grammes of
heroin worth Rs. 25 million were nabbed at the Tribbuvan International
Airport in Bangkok, Thailand by a Nepalese Anti-Narcotics Aviation Squad
as the duo were boarding a Thai Airways plane en route to Colombo
recently.
The drug traffickers identified as Kul Bahadur Tamang and Sharmila.
Taman had swallowed the contraband in the form of plastic coated
capsules in their bid to elude security checks at the airport.
The anti-narcotics aviation squad on February 14 had impounded
1.632-grams of heroin worth Rs 25 million from the two drug traffickers.
The drug peddlers were boarding Thai Airways plane en route to
Colombo, from Bangkok when they were detained acting on a tip-off.
Police officials claimed that they delayed disseminating the information
to the public since the detainees were undergoing a medical examination.
The police had busted 81 plastic-coated capsules weighing 972-gram of
heroin and 55 capsules containing 660-grams from the abdominal cavities
of Kul Bahadur and Sharmila. They were said to be using Nepal transit
