Certain political parties which tried to destroy the country in the
past are now trying to create divisions within the Maha Sangha by
insulting them said JHU leader and former Parliamentarian Ven Dr
Ellawala Medhananda Thera when he called on Malwatte Chapter Anunayake
Ven Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera in Kandy yesterday.
Ven Medhananda Thera said certain leaders who did not know the true
meaning of honour and respect were today insulting the Maha Sangha by
branding them as heretics.
Environment and National Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka
said that one third of the land area in this country came under the
purview of his Ministry and they have protected and safeguarded those
lands in the past.
The income earned by his Ministry has increased from Rs 1,052 million
to Rs 4,242 million during the last three years.
His Ministry had also increased local production of electricity posts
and railway sleepers considerably thereby helping the country to save a
large amount of foreign exchange spent on imports.
Thushara Swarnatilleke, Shantha Jayatilleke and M. C. Jayaratne of
the JHU were also present on the occasion. |
